Vintage Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company Brass Desktop Matchbox Holder - This is a vintage brass advertising desk accessory designed as a matchbox holder for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, likely dating from the 1920s to the 1940s. The rectangular box features a hinged lid decorated with Art Deco-style scrollwork at the corners. The center of the lid is embossed with the Goodyear Wingfoot logo above the brand name within a rectangular border. The interior contains a spring-loaded hinged pressure plate, similarly embossed with the Goodyear name and logo, which was used to secure a large matchbox in place. The sides of the holder have large cutouts to allow matches to be struck against the side of the inserted box. The object is constructed from brass-toned metal.
