Antique Gamewell Auxiliary Fire Alarm Cast Iron Pull Box with Patent Dates 1888-1889 - This antique auxiliary fire alarm pull station is manufactured by the Gamewell Auxiliary Fire Alarm Company. The unit is constructed of a house-shaped cast iron housing featuring classical architectural elements, including fluted pilasters on the sides and circular rosettes at the four corners of the central frame. The top crest is embossed with the words FIRE ALARM and a decorative motif depicting a lightning bolt or electrical spark. Below the crest, the upper faceplate is embossed with the patent dates PAT. JAN 88. DEC 88. OCT 89. A brass pull-ring mechanism is centrally located behind a protective glass pane. The interior backplate, visible through the glass, is embossed with the text GAMEWELL AUX.
