Antique Solar Carbide Bicycle or Motorcycle Lamp Attributed to Badger Brass Mfg. Co. - This antique vehicle lamp, attributed to the Badger Brass Mfg. Co. and identified as the Solar model, was designed for use on early bicycles or motorcycles during the turn of the 20th century. The housing is constructed of nickel-plated brass and features a prominent clear convex glass lens at the front. For lateral visibility, the lamp includes two faceted glass jewels on the sides, with one appearing to be deep red. The body is characterized by various patterns of circular ventilation holes around the lens rim and on the rear dome to support an internal flame-based light source, typically carbide. A mechanical side latch is located on the housing to allow access to the interior. The base is circular with large decorative cutouts for mounting to a bracket.
