Rare Antique Fox Boot Scraper - A large and rare, antique fox boot scraper. Cast iron with original black paint. Stamped ”B.B BUTT”, a Baltimore based maker. Circa 19th century.. This is all original, including the worn wire brushes. Those attach with two screws and can be removed. Size is impressive. 19” long from snout to snout, 15&3/4” length of base. Base is about 7” deep. Bottom of base to ear of fox about 6&1/2.” Condition is as found and as shown. Please look at all photos to form your own opinion of quality and condition. Scattered loss of original paint. Some surface rust. One small dab of old white paint, eye-level on one fox. No other problems that I can see. Not only is this a rare form in the world of antique boot scrapers, but on its own, it's a very fine piece of American sporting sculpture.
