Collection of Pencil Sketches by William Stanley (American/Illinois/Wisconsin, Itinerant Artist) - A collection of four (4) pencil sketches by William Stanley, an intern at artist who spent time in Boone, Winnebago, and McHenry Counties of Illinois and Rock County, Wisconsin. Lot includes four examples of his work, including a signed copy of the book by artist Beth Herbert Luhman 'The Art & Times of Professor Wm. Stanley and The Families Whose Lives He Touched.' The largest framed drawing is titled J.S. McDougall and signed lower right by Stanley. It measures 24 x 33 inches framed, with some abrasions to the frame. The second farm landscape is titled Residence of W.S. Merry and measures approx 22 1/4 x 17 1/4 inches framed. The third is a portrait of two pet cats titled Horner & Sukey, signed lower left with information on back. Measures 14.5 x 11.5 inches framed. The last is another animal portrait featuring a dog and a cat titled Dick & Bonus with information on the back, measuring 11.5 x 14.5 inches framed. A rare collection of a unique Midwest artist working in the late 19th and early 20th century!
