The rim and handle are fully enriched with fine gilding, forming an elegant refined tea and coffee service set.The Manufacture Nationale de Sevres originated from the National Ceramic Workshop at the Ch?teau de Vincennes on the outskirts of Paris, founded in 1740 by Marquis Jean?Henri?Louis Orry de Fulvy, a minister under Louis XV.In 1753, it was officially entitled the Royal Sevres Porcelain Manufactory and adopted the double?L hallmark. The interlaced L monogram is the abbreviation of Louis, initially standing for Louis XV and later for Louis XVI. The manufactory formally relocated to Sevres in 1756.In 1759, Louis XV acquired the entire factory and established it as an official royal institution. He further decreed that no other porcelain factory in France was permitted to apply gilding to porcelain, making Sevres the only authorized gilt porcelain manufactory in France.
