Created by a German Academic landscape painter, the work features rigorous composition, distinct spatial layers, and subtle yet distinct light and shadow transitions.Tivoli is a typical medieval castle complex, situated on a hillside along the Aniene River, more than thirty kilometres east of Rome. Skillfully integrated with precipitous mountain terrain and breathtaking natural scenery, it served as a strategic outpost defending Rome. The site houses renowned architectural relics from the Ancient Roman, Renaissance, and 19th?century periods.The German landscape painter Fritz Brandt was born in Berlin in 1853 and passed away in Rome, Italy, in 1905. He graduated from the prestigious Berlin University of the Arts and received formal artistic training under the noted Norwegian landscape painter Hans Fredrik Gude (1825, Oslo - 1903, Berlin), who served as a foreign professor at the university.Brandt gained wide recognition in German artistic circles from 1883 onwards. He was an important member of the German Artists' Association and received awards at major art exhibitions across Germany. From 1889 until his death, he resided and worked in Rome, Italy, participating in numerous influential art exhibitions in Italy and London, and winning multiple accolades.
