Pre-Columbian Nicoya Tripod Pottery Bowl, Costa Rica - Description: Pre-Columbian Costa Rica Nicoya Culture Burnished Brown Tripod Pottery Bowl. Type / Medium: Rare type of tempered terracotta burnished / slipped brown chocolate-ware. Decoration: Decorated with brown burnished / slip with elegant sharply angled bowl, three rattle legs, and four evenly spaced small node-like appendages around center of body. The upper shoulder of the bowl is decorated with incised linear stippled lines / hashes. Period: Pre-Columbian Date: Circa. 1000 - 1250 A.D. Geography: Guanacaste, Nicoya Peninsula, Costa Rica.
