Yeshuot Ya'akov, 4-Volume Set. Zolkiew, 1828-1836. First Edition
Yeshuot Ya'akov - large composition on the Shulchan Aruch including: a short part explaining the Shulchan Aruch and a longer part citing earlier opinions and discussing them, by Rabbi Ya'akov Meshulam Orenstein - rabbi of Lemberg and leading rabbi in Galicia. With the text of the Shulchan Aruch. First edition, printed by the author.
This work Yeshuot Ya'akov is the book by which its author merited to earn the moniker "Ba'al HaYeshuot Ya'akov." It originally contained four parts on Orach Chaim, three parts on Yoreh Deah and three parts on Even HaEzer. Before us is a complete set, including all the parts the author printed in his lifetime. (About 20 years posthumously, and thirty years after the printing of this first edition, the author's grandson printed the Choshen Mishpat section, which is a relatively short work in a different format and without the Shulchan Aruch text.)
For a detailed biography of Rabbi Ya'akov Meshulam Orenstein, refer to the Hebrew catalog text.
