Imrei Binah. Jerusalem, 1871-1886. First Edition. Pedigree Copy
Imrei Binah - novellae and responsa on Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim, Yoreh Deah and Choshen Mishpat. Two parts bound together. By Rabbi Meir Auerbach. Author's stamp on the title page. Handwritten comment (in pen) on leaf 31. Two additional comments (in pencil) on leaf 229.
The gaon Rabbi Meir Auerbach [1815-1878] was Av Beit Din of Kalish, kabbalist and rabbinic leader. He is known by the name of the book before us, as the "Imrei Binah." He served as the nasi of Kollel Polin. In 1859 he ascended to the Land of Israel and was appointed to stand at the head of the Ashkenazic yishuv together with Rabbi Shmuel Salant. The custom to not play musical instruments at weddings in Jerusalem is attributed to him. (See about him: Chochmei Polin page 226.)
