Biur al HaSma"g Juan di Gara Press, Venice, First Edition. Approbation by the Maharsh"a

Sefer Biur al Sefer Mitzvot Gadol [Sma"g] by Rabbi Yosef Ben HaKadosh R' Yosef of Kremnitz. Venice, 1605. First edition. Located in the Rare Books Department in the National Library in Jerusalem.

This sefer is adorned with a rare approbation signed by the gedolei hador, including Rabbi Mordechai Jaffe, "Ba'al HaLevushim"; and Rabbi Shmuel Eliezer Eidels - the Maharsh"a.

The author was known as a disciple of the Ram"a's. He writes in his preface: I wrote this elucidation ... all that I heard in the days of my youth from three geonei olam ... R' Yitzchak Cohen a"h ... R' Yisrael Ben ... R' Shachna ztz"l ... R' Moshe Isserel [-the Ram"a] and R' Moshe Mardush - under whom I studied at his yeshivah in Ostroh.
