One-of-a Kind Ruling from the Sacred Gaon Rabbi Yehudah Yekutiel Teitelbaum of Sighet, from when he was only Twenty-Four Years Old. 1936

Very rare: Beautiful one-of-a-kind psak din, signed by the sacred gaon Rabbi Yekutiel Yehudah Teitelbaum, the final Admo"r of the Sighet dynasty, son and successor of his sacred father, the author of Atzei Chayim. Sighet, Thursday, 7 Tevet, 1936. Almost no letters or sefarim from him remain, and no psak din of his has ever appeared at auction.

The sacred gaon Rabbi Yekutiel Yehudah Teitelbaum ascended to his father's regal position, and was appointed av beit din of Sighet in his ancestors' place as a young man of only about 14. Despite his youth, he was a charismatic and understanding leader, and was especially remarkable for his enthusiastic derashot. In this psak din from 1936, when Rabbi Teitelbaum was about 24 years old, it is evident that he also served in practice as the av beit din of the city and ruled in dinei Torah that took place in Sighet and the surrounding areas.

The sacred gaon of Sighet puts a lien on R' Ya'akov Leizer Kaufman's inheritance here due to a debt his father owed Ms. Sasha Kaufman. The respondent, R' Ya'akov Eliezer Kaufman, also signed in the margins of this psak din.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the Admo"r Rabbi Yekutiel Yehudah Teitelbaum, av beit din of Sighet and environs.
