Beautiful and Rare Letter Handwritten by the Rosh Yeshivah of Lomza, the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Shulevitz

Very beautiful and very rare letter, entirely in the calligraphic script of and with a signature by the gaon Rabbi Eliezer Shulevitz, rosh yeshivah of Lomza in Europe and in the Land of Israel. Lomza, 1901. To the best of our examination, his letters have never appeared at auction.

The letter expresses gratitude to "HaChacham HaKollel" Rabbi Dr. Avraham Drobkin of St. Petersburg, Russia, for his donation to the funds collected for the sacred yeshivah, via the emissary, the renowned darshan Rabbi Michel Kahane. The letter is arranged in a beautiful manner, in appreciation for the donation of 422 silver rubles - a respectable sum in those days, and for his tremendous efforts on behalf of the sacred yeshivah "that protects the glory of the Jewish people among the nations."

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Eliezer Shulevitz, founder and leader of the Lomza yeshivahs in Lithuania and the Land of Israel.
