The Large and Magnificent Machzor 'Sha'ar Bat Rabbim.' Venice 1711-1715. Magnificent Copy

Sha'ar Bat Rabbim - Machzor K'Minhag Kahal Kodesh Ashkenazim SheB'Italiah with the Hadrat Kodesh commentary ... printed by request of the communities in various regions of Italy. Venice, Bragadin Press, 1711-1715. Magnificent copy.

Three magnificent large volumes of this important machzor. One of the most magnificent and elegant machzorim ever printed.

Siddur and machzor for the entire year, for the cantor. With selichot, yotzrot, Pirkei Avot with Italian translation (in Hebrew letters), Torah and haftarah readings, lamentations and various prayers. On leaf 363 of the second section, there is a beautiful bakashah for times of plague.

The machzor was printed by request of the Italian communities in: Venice (Ashkenazic, Sepharadic and Italian congregations), Padua, Rovigo, Verona, Mantua, Casal, Montferrat, Gorizia and all the surrounding areas.

These communities committed in advance to purchase the machzorim and it was sold in sections ["Each time you bring one leaf of the machzor ... they will give you four ..."]. Printing this machzor took five years.

The machzor was printed in two parts:

Part I; Shabbat and Yom Tov, Rosh Chodesh, Purim and Tisha B'Av. 360 leaf.

Part II: Prayers for the high holidays with all the prayers and supplications from Rosh Chodesh Elul until Simchat Torah.

372, 377-384 leaf. 38.5 cm.

Each title page is illustrated with a magnificent copperplate etching of pictures of angels and the Zodiac. Pictures and illuminated initials are also found among the leaves of the machzor. Due to the large size and weight of the second part, this copy was divided into two volumes.

Printed on high-quality white paper. Three volumes.
