Tur Choshen Mishpat - Personal Copy of Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky, Rosh Yeshivah of Ponovezh

Tur Choshen Mishpat Part II, El HaMekorot Publications, Jerusalem, 1959. The title page and the protective leaf bear the signatures of the leading rosh yeshivah, the gaon Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky, rosh yeshivah of Ponovezh.

In this edition, there are many commentaries printed for the first time from manuscript, such as novellae by the Mahasha"l, the Mahara"l of Prague and others. The Har Tzvi novellae by Rabbi Tzvi Pesach Frank shlit"a (ztz"l) are printed for the first time in this edition, with a separate title page.

Choshen Mishpat is known to bear the bulk of the halachahs and laws discussed in the "yeshivish" tractates Bava Kamma, Bava Metzia, and Bava Batra. The renowned Shiurei Rabbi Shmuel by the gaon Shmuel Rozovsky deals with these yeshivish tractates, and is studied to this day in yeshivah halls. It is so exciting to hold this historic and sacred copy in one's hands, the copy closely studied by the leading rosh yeshivah of recent generations, from which he drew his wondrous lessons. It is especially fascinating to see how the signs of close study increase in the sections that deal with the most difficult topics. For example, in the laws of hona'ah and mekach ta'ut, there is a group of leaves (104-105) that detached from its place.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the gaon Rabbi Shmuel Rozovsky.

Thick volume, 35.5 cm.

Fine-very fine condition. One section of leaves is detached.
