Unprinted Manuscript - Torah Novellae by Rashei Yeshivah Leaders of Bonyhád


Manuscript - derashot and novellae on the weekly Torah portions delivered by the rabbis at the Bonyhád yeshivah. Written by a disciple at the yeshivah, Rabbi Yehudah Shaul HaLevi Horowitz. [Bonyhád, 1887-1894]. Never printed manuscript!


The rabbis whose  divrei Torah are brought in this manuscript include: Rabbi Moshe Pollak, rosh yeshivah and av beit din of Bonyhád, his father Rabbi Zekkel, a disciple of the Chatam Sofer, Rabbi Yehudah Greenwald, Rabbi Yehudah Assad, and others.

The writer signed at the end of the final page, as well as on the flyleaves. Several different owner's stamps appear along the leaves of the book that bear witness to the author's various life stages: "Yuda Shaul Segal Horowitz, ritual slaughterer of Aesza Tileagd, " "Yuda Shaul Segal Horowitz, cantor and ritual slaughterer and  moreh tzeddek of Orta Gurahoncz and environs, "  "Yehuda Shaul Horowitz, V'alaszut."

61, 30 leaf. All (but one) written on both sides. 21 cm.
Moderate-fine condition. Usage and aging stains. Adhesion in the inner margins of some of the leaves, with damage to the text. Thick, fragile paper. Wear and tears in the margins of several leaves. Original binding, slightly worn. The back binding is incomplete.
