Russian and Hebrew preface to the scriptures. Apparently the first Russian translation of the Torah. The translator and elucidator was a maskil, and a government-appointed rabbi in Bialystok and Vilna, a director for Hebrew and Aramaic in the Vilna Rabbinical Seminary, and supervisor of the institute. He was a government censor for Jewish works from 1863-1908. Rare work. Not in the National Library.
New binding. Light repair to the margins of the first leaves. Brown paper. Fine-very fine condition.
