Lekach Tov by Rabbi Moshe Najara. First Edition. Constantinople, 1575. Signatures and Glosses

Sefer Lekach Tov - elucidations on the weekly Torah portions, a list of mitzvahs and commentaries per the Ramba"m in the order of the Torah portions by a disciple of the Ar"i, the G-dly Kabbalist Rabbi Moshe Najara, leading rabbi of Damascus and father of Rabbi Yisrael Najara, author of the renowned hymn, "Kah Ribbon Olam V'Olamaya." Constantinople, 1575. First edition.

Greetings from the author's son, Rabbi Yisrael Najara, printed on the last leaf, opening with "And Yisrael saw the accomplishment by the great hand of his father, Moshe ..." followed by a poem in praise of the book.

The Chid"a, in Shem HaGedolim, praises this book in that it connected the Oral Torah and the Written Torah by bringing the commentary of the verses stating the mitzvah arranged with all parts of the laws and drushim by our Sages..." "Blessed is the people who keeps watch on its doors - this is Torah for its own sake ... its name befits it, as it is called Lekach Tov."

Antique rabbinic signature in Oriental script from the period of printing. Glosses along the book's leaves, likewise in Oriental script, from the time of printing.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Moshe Najara.
