Sermon for 'Shabbat Shuvah' in the Holy Hand of 'The Living Lion of Babylon' Maran the Ben Ish Chai. Differences from the Printed Version.

[6] pages with a passage from a sermon for 'Shabbat Shuvah' in the holy hand of the Living Lion of Babylon, Rabbi Yosef Chaim author of the 'Ben Ish Chai' of Baghdad. Characteristic autograph script, apparently from Rabbeinu's youth. Differences from the printed version.

In these leaves, Rabbi Yosef Chaim deals with Yetzer HaRah and its Tikkun, writing that there are two types of Yetzer HaRah. Accordingly, he knowledgeably elucidates varied verses and sources, each one according to the root of the sin it introduces.

This sermon was printed in Rabbeinu's lifetime in his book 'Ben Ish Chayil' (part I, Jerusalem 1901); however, in the manuscript before us there are many linguistic and meaning differences from the printed version! (refer to Hebrew catalog text for examples).

Refer to Hebrew catalog text for a short biography of Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad.

[3] leaves of graph paper, written on both their sides. Characteristic autograph script, with corrections, erasures and additions. Enclosed is a photocopy of the sermon as it was printed in his book 'Ben Ish Chayil'.

Very fine condition. The leaves are separated one from the other. Slight aging stains. Some ink smudges.
