Mishnayot. Printed Immediately Preceding the Holocaust, as Booklets.
Mishanyot with 51 commentaries. Seder Moed, Part 1. Darmat [Hungary]. [1943]. Printed immediately preceding the Holocaust, as booklets booklets. 40, 2 pages, 31 cm. The publisher Moshe Chaim Shteiner writes in the introduction printed here, under the heading I Seek My Brethren, that he is printing the mishnayot booklets because of the printing costs, and each week he will print one booklet. Exhibited is the preface to Seder Moed with the beginning of Tractate Shabbat. Most copies were destroyed in the Holocaust. On the page before the title page the researcher and collector Yisrael Mehlman wrote: Rare find. This is one of the last printed books in Hungary under the Nazi reign. The printing apparently stopped in the middle. [However, today it is known that he completed the printing]. Nice cloth binding. Fine-very fine condition.
