Machzor for the High Holidays, Slavuta - Józefów, 1848 - Machzor for Rosh HaShanah and Yom HaKippurim per the custom of Poland, Reisin, Lithuania, Pihem, Mehrin. Printed in tiny letters at the bottom of the title page: Józefów - the original place of printing, and under it, in huge letters, ”in Slavuta” 1848. This machzor was printed ”with letter forms previously in Slavuta, ” as detailed on the title page. The title page is similar in form to the title pages printed in Slavuta. There are those who hypothesize that the Slavuta press was closed, and the Shapira family printers printed their sacred books in Józefów until they received a permit to open their press in Zhitomir.
