Volume of Rishonim on the Talmud including Chiddushei Chatam Sofer Printed during His Lifetime - without His Permission. Copy of Rabbi Yechezkel Benet, Rabbinical Signatures.
Chidushei R"Y Migash on Tractate Shavuot, Prague, 1826, with chiddushim and responsa from the Chatam Sofer, printed during his lifetime. This was the first time that his chiddushim were printed. All other works, the chiddushim, teshuvot and derashot were printed posthumously. In a letter to Rabbi Zvi Hirsh Chajes, the Chatam Sofer writes that the chiddushim were printed by his disciples, without his approval. However, 'at first it was against my will, but at the end I was pleased'. Bound with:
*Chiddushei HaRamban on Tractate Kiddushin with Chidushei Maharsh and the chiddiushim of the Chatam Sofer, during his life [as above], Prague, 1826. Bound with:
*Kedushat Yisrael, section two, chiddushim on Tractate Gittin by Rabbi Wolf Lichtenstein. Vienna, 1829. Approbation by the Chatam Sofer and others. Bound with:
* Chidushei HaRitva on Tractate Avoda Zara. Ofen, 1824. The book belonged to Rabbi Yechezkel Benet of Nitra.. Many notations by his progeny, including some from Rabbi Yosef Yochanan Benet of Karlov, many rabbinical signatures.
