Leaflet Distributed by the Allies at the End of WWII with a Call for German Soldiers to Surrender with a Promise for Good Conditions, American Front, 1945

One one side of the leaflet, it states: Continued war: For Germany, this means: More bombing and destruction. For your family: Risks of continued war, continuation of their enlistment to the suicidal Volkssturm activities (the Volkssturm were folk Nazi militias recruited towards the end of the war from the ranks of the youth and the elderly, used as cannon fodder at the front). And a continuation of the bombings and the starvation.

And for you - this means continuing to endanger yourself for a lost cause.

Written on the second side of the leaflet: Surrender means: For Germany, a difficult but tolerable peace. President Roosevelt promised at the trilateral conference in Italy that the Allies would not repeat the mistake of the conclusion of WWI, and would not demand high compensation that would collapse the German economy. We do not want residents of Germany to starve or become a burden to the world.

For you: Protection according to the Geneva Convention. Over a million German soldiers have already surrendered on the Western Front, as prisoners of war you will have the following benefits: 1) Immediate evacuation from combat zones. 2) Food identical to that of the Allied soldiers' 3) Medical treatment identical to that of the Allied soldiers' 4) Mail. 5) Return home as soon as possible after the war.

If you want to surrender, stop, take off your helmet, wave something white, and yell (in English) "I surrender!"
