Pair of Mission Style Quarter Sawn Oak Armchairs - Pair of Arts and Crafts Mission style armchairs constructed of quarter-sawn white oak. Each chair features a curved crest rail over a splat back with five vertical slats, each detailed with a decorative inverted teardrop cutout. The wide, flat armrests are designed with beveled front edges and are supported by straight square posts that extend into the front legs. The chairs are built with contoured wooden seats and reinforced with a sturdy H-stretcher assembly. The joinery utilizes heavy square-section members characteristic of early 20th-century institutional furniture. Stenciled marks are present on the underside of the seats indicating former ownership.
