Henry Aston U.S. Model 1842 Percussion Pistol .54 Caliber - Henry Aston U.S. Model 1842 percussion pistol, a .54 caliber smoothbore single-shot muzzleloader. The firearm features a round steel barrel with an oxidized patina and a captive swivel ramrod secured by a stud and link system. The walnut stock is dark-stained and fitted with brass furniture, including a single barrel band, a side plate, a trigger guard, and a rounded butt cap. The lock plate is made of steel and finished in the white, though it now displays surface oxidation and pitting. Key markings include the lock plate centered with U.S. and H. ASTON, and the rear of the lock plate marked MIDDtn CONN 1848.
