Bidspirit auction | Eastlake Style Quartersawn Oak Chest
Eastlake Style Quartersawn Oak Chest of Drawers with Marble Top - Eastlake style chest of drawers constructed from quartersawn oak with a prominent tiger grain pattern. The rectangular form is topped with a thick, white-to-gray veined marble slab featuring a simple eased edge and a low oak backsplash. The unusual drawer configuration consists of three side-by-side glove drawers over three graduated, full-width long drawers. Construction details include machine-cut dovetail joints and vertical chamfered back panels, indicating late 19th-century American manufacture. The chest retains its original patinated brass or bronze geometric hardware, featuring pulls with an X-motif on the backplates and ribbed, turned handles. Escutcheons are cast with stylized floral and scrollwork designs. The secondary woods are a mix of pine and poplar. No manufacturer labels are present. 30” H x 45” W x 21” D.
