2 Folk Art Objects Including Carved Bone Implement and Inscribed Bamboo Segment - Two disparate folk art items. The first is a large mammal bone, possibly a tibia, meticulously hand-carved into a tapered implement. The proximal end retains the natural joint structure, while the shaft is decorated with incised geometric patterns including cross-hatching, zig-zag lines, and parallel grooves. The distal end has been worked into a sharp, elongated point. The second item is a cylindrical segment of bamboo featuring a smooth, yellowish-tan exterior. It bears an inscription in black permanent marker reading: TO OUR FAVORITE BIG BAMBOO - THE ONE & ONLY PETER BENCHLEY! THE SEQUEL TO PORKING THE RED BALLOON! LOVE, PENNY; JIM ET AL! The bamboo shows a natural hollow core and characteristic nodal rings. Bone segment: 14 3/4” x 2” x 2”. Bamboo segment: 9 1/2” x 1/2”.
