3 Maritime History and Adventure Books from Peter Benchley's Personal Library - Group of three maritime history and adventure books. The first is a paperback reissue of Pitcairn's Island by Charles Nordhoff (American, 1887-1947) and James Norman Hall (American, 1887-1951), published by Back Bay Books, an imprint of Little, Brown and Company, in 2003. The second is an uncorrected proof of Running the Amazon by Joe Kane (American, b. 1953), published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1989. This volume includes an inserted note typed on Alfred A. Knopf letterhead dated April 14 and signed by editor Ashbel Green (American, 1928-2012). The note is addressed to Benchley and wishes him a good sail. The third volume is a first U.S. edition of Under the Black Flag: The Romance and the Reality of Life Among the Pirates by David Cordingly (British, b. 1938), published by Random House in 1995. The Cordingly volume is bound in publisher's cloth with a pictorial dust jacket and contains a bookmark from Micawber Books of Princeton, NJ. Largest copy: 9 1/2” H x 6 5/8” W x 1 1/8” D.
