17th Century Carved Oak Blanket Chest With Bootjack Ends - 17th Century carved oak blanket chest or coffer constructed of wide oak planks with a dark-patinated finish. The primitive plank construction features a heavy, single-board lid with a molded front edge, while the slab-end sides are cut into triple-scalloped bootjack bases to form the legs. The front face is divided into two large rectangular recessed panels, each featuring a centrally chip-carved diamond lozenge containing a four-pointed star or rosette motif. The interior is built with a lighter secondary softwood and lacks a till or internal compartments. 24” H x 54” W x 20” D.
