Jacobean Oak Blanket Chest - Jacobean joined oak blanket chest or coffer constructed of solid oak. The piece features traditional frame-and-panel construction with three recessed panels on the front and single panels on each side. The frame is assembled with pinned mortise-and-tenon joinery visible on the stiles and rails. The heavy two-plank solid oak lid is finished with a thumb-molded edge. The front stiles and rails are decorated with chip-carved geometric patterns featuring a recurring bullseye motif within incised rectangular borders. The vertical stiles extend down to form the legs. Hardware includes early iron wire staple hinges and a heart-shaped iron keyhole escutcheon centered on the top front rail. 23 1/2” H x 41” W x 18 1/2” D.
