Jacobean Carved Joined Oak Blanket Chest - Jacobean carved joined oak blanket chest. The piece follows a traditional joined design with a four-panel lid and two-panel front. The side and rear elevations each feature a single recessed panel. A hand-carved frieze decorates the upper front rail, displaying a repeating stylized wave or guilloche scroll motif. The chest is built using mortise and tenon joinery secured with visible wooden pegs. The corner stiles extend past the base to form the feet. The interior includes a built-in lidded till compartment on the right side. Hardware includes internal wrought iron strap hinges and a centrally mounted iron lock plate on the front, accompanied by an iron loop handle. Marked on the underside of the lid with an adhesive label ”Ashwell 34 The Ropewalk, ” referring to the historic property in Nottingham, England. 25” H x 40” W x 18” D.
