4 Early American Ladderback Chairs - Group of four early American ladderback chairs, including three side chairs with rush seats and one armchair with a woven seat. Mixed hardwood construction with varied stylistic elements typical of the 19th-century country aesthetic and later Colonial Revival movements. Construction includes turned posts and stretchers with mortise and tenon joinery, with some joints featuring visible wooden pinning. Largest chair 46” H x 23 1/4” W x 16 1/2” D, seat height 17” H. Smallest chair 41 1/2” H x 18 1/4” W x 14 3/4” D, seat height 14” H. From the Woodstock, New York estate of music manager Albert Grossman, best known for managing artists including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and Peter, Paul and Mary.
