2 Early American Country Spindle-Back Chairs with Rush Seats - Two early American country spindle-back chairs with rush seats, one armchair and one side chair. The chairs are constructed of hardwood, likely maple or ash, utilizing mortise-and-tenon joinery. Both pieces feature turned posts and stretchers with vertical spindle backs topped by horizontal rails and ball finials. The dark-stained finish shows heavy age-related wear and an alligatored surface texture. Armchair 43 1/4” H x 23” W x 15 1/2” D. Seat height 15” H. Side chair 33 1/4” H x 19” W x 14 1/2” D. Seat height 15” H. From the Woodstock, New York estate of music manager Albert Grossman, best known for managing artists including Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, The Band, and Peter, Paul and Mary.
