Primitive American Red-Painted Stepback Cupboard - Early American primitive stepback cupboard featuring a shallow upper section with two fixed open shelves and a deeper lower storage cabinet. The piece is constructed with wide, vertical, hand-planed backboards and stands on simple cutout feet. The exterior is finished in an old, deep reddish-brown wash or milk paint. The lower section includes a single door secured with a primitive hand-wrought iron latch, which opens to reveal a single fixed interior shelf. Construction details include primitive joinery and square-head nails visible throughout. 74 3/4” H x 43 1/2” W x 22” D.
