French Bisque Porcelain and Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock - A French Neoclassical mantel urn clock crafted from matte white bisque porcelain with ornate gilt bronze mounts. The clock is signed F. Jammes in an incised mark on the lower porcelain plinth. The case is designed as a large lidded urn featuring high-relief putti handles at the shoulders and a low-relief frieze of classically draped female figures and cherubs around the mid-section. The urn is supported by a sculptural bisque porcelain base depicting a seated water nymph and two cherubs, one riding a dolphin. The entire assembly rests upon a tiered gilt bronze circular base with acanthus leaf molding and four lion's paw feet. The domed porcelain lid is crowned with a gilt bronze pinecone finial. The circular white enamel dial features blue Roman numeral hour markers, black Arabic numeral minute markers, and pierced gilded scrolling hands, protected by a hinged glass bezel surmounted by a gilt bronze laurel wreath. The rear of the urn contains a mechanical twin-train movement accessed through a perforated brass cover. 27” H x 10” W x 10” D.
