Samuel Marti Style French Neoclassical Black Marble and Gilt Metal Mantel Clock - Samuel Marti style French black marble and gilt metal mantel clock, late 19th century. The case is surmounted by a large central urn finial with draped garlands, flanked by two smaller decorative urns. The structure is supported by fluted gilt metal columns with ornate capitals. The base is ornamented with a central classical mask, possibly depicting a Bacchante or Medusa, flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves. The gilt metal dial features a central repousse foliate motif and a cartouche layout with individual white enamel plaques for each Roman numeral hour marker. It has two winding arbors and open-work hands. The mechanical eight-day, pendulum-driven movement features a count-wheel strike and sounds on an internal bell. The rear brass movement plate is stamped with the characters 7 4 3. No other maker marks are visible. 26” H x 18” W x 7 1/4” D. Running but not tested for timekeeping.
