Napoleon III Style Marquetry and Marble Top Side Cabinet - This side cabinet is designed in the Napoleon III style and features wood construction with mahogany and fruitwood veneers arranged in chevron parquetry with string-inlay marquetry. The cabinet is topped with a thick, beveled slab of variegated pink and reddish-brown marble. Cast metal mounts are present throughout the exterior, including female caryatid figures with feathered headpieces at the upper corners. The single frieze drawer is decorated with a continuous mount of scrolling acanthus leaves and floral rosettes. Additional acanthus leaf mounts adorn the lower corners of the case, and the four tapered legs terminate in metal sabots. The hinged door opens to an interior with a single fixed shelf.
