Louis XV Style Marquetry Bonheur du Jour - Louis XV style marquetry bonheur du jour. The piece features a two-part construction with elaborate floral and foliate marquetry in multi-wood veneers on a kingwood ground. The upper cabinet contains a single glazed door with gilt-bronze framing, opening to an interior with two shelves lined in floral-patterned fabric. The cabinet is further decorated with ormolu bearded-man masks at the upper corners and finished with an ormolu leaf-and-dart molded cornice. The lower table section features a serpentine-front top above a conforming apron with a central ormolu foliate mount. The desk is supported by four slender cabriole legs, each accented with ormolu knee mounts and terminating in gilt-bronze sabots. The back of the piece is finished in black paint. A functional metal key for the upper cabinet is present. 53” H x 33” W x 18” D.
