French Louis XVI Style Marble Top Coffee Table with Porcelain Medallions - A 20th-century coffee table designed in the Louis XVI revival style. The table features a circular top of grey and white veined marble with a molded edge. The mahogany and fruitwood apron is divided into panels with fruitwood stringing, each inset with a circular porcelain medallion. These medallions depict various romantic pastoral or galante scenes in the Sevres style, framed by gilt-metal laurel wreaths. The base consists of four fluted, tapered legs adorned with gilt-metal bow-and-garland mounts at the capitals. The legs are joined by a curved X-form stretcher centered by a gilt-metal urn finial. Each leg terminates in a gilt-metal foliated sabot foot. A paper tag from a previous sale is attached to the stretcher. Height: 20 inches Diameter: 28 inches.
