Napoleon III Style Gilt-Metal Mounted Marquetry Dressing Table - A Napoleon III style dressing table, or poudreuse, featuring fruitwood and kingwood veneers arranged in a parquetry pattern. The table is designed with a serpentine-shaped hinged top that opens to reveal an interior with three compartments and a central inset oval mirror. Below the top is a single drawer constructed with dovetail joints. The piece is supported by four slender cabriole legs joined by a conforming lower shelf tier. The decoration includes ebonized panels with marquetry and painted scenes; the top lid features a bird and butterflies within a floral wreath, while the drawer front and lower shelf display floral sprays. The table is heavily accented with ornate gilt-metal mounts in the Rococo Revival style, including floral chutes, sabots, and pierced galleries along the top and lower shelf edges. 31.5” H x 28” W x 19” D.
