Diary Notebooks and Field Notes Feb - July 1936 - The personal archive of Louis-Pierre Ledoux (1912-2001), who was the second person (and first trained anthropologist) to record significant data on the Murik people of Papua New Guinea. The archive contains his field journals from a six-month stay in a Murik village, along with a wealth of associated material. 21 Books Total - 4 Diary notebooks and 17 field notes of Louis Pierre Ledoux's time in Kaup, from Feb. - July 1936, including original handwritten real-time on site notes. 4 Purple Diary's Books each include two different topics per book with handwritten notes (not completely filled). 18cm x 22cm Sing Sings (front) and Legends (back)(dos-a-dos) Scarification, Tattoos, Paint (front) and Girl's Ceremonies (back)(dos-a-dos) Medicine and Illness (front) and Musical Instruments - General Food Tambu Machinery (back)(dos-a-dos) Outrigger Canoes (front) and House Building Ceremonies (back)(dos-a-dos) 2 Small Brown Notepads with what appears to be lists or items or supplies 7.5cm x 12.5cm 17 Green Field notebooks - All Handwritten (not completely filled) 20cm x 12cm 6 Books appear to be Kaup Diaries from February to July 1936. 11 Additional Green Books on the following topics: Sandap, Murik, Karau, Mendam #1, Mendam #2, Reading Notes, Das Kirchebuch (listing names of tribe members with birth, marriage and death dates)., Colection (i.e. artefacts collected), Questions to be Asked, Sex, and Language.
