Lola Saint John Two Hand Painted Porcelain Plates - Two hand painted porcelain wall hanging plates, painted by artist Lola Alberta Saint John, (Indiana/American, 1879-1972). Each plate measures 8.25” x 6” and are monogrammed lower left. Each depicting pink and purple flowers and with gold borders. ”A lifelong resident of Albany, Indiana she began her formal training at Eastern Indiana Normal, studied design at the Art Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio under Brandt Steele, and painting at John Herron Art Institute, Indianapolis, Indiana. Working from her home/studio in Albany, she had her beginning with design and painting of china until the shortage following WWI. She then concentrated on oil painting of landscapes from trips to Brown County Indiana and North Carolina, and local Delaware County Indiana scenes. She also conducted private painting classes. She was well renowned for her floral still life.
