George Jo Mess 12x16 O/B ”Salem Lutheran Church” - George Jo Mess (IN, 1898-1962) 12x16 , O/B , signed lower left , ”Salem Lutheran Church” , Depicting: church in New Augusta area, Indpls painted ca 1932, size as framed 16.5 x 20.5 (from the church's website)- In 1876, at the northwest corner of Walnut (now 72nd Street) and Pollard Streets in the town of Hosbrook (Augusta Station west of the railroad), a magnificent new brick building was begun, and dedicated May 9, 1880 (see photo below). This is still our house of worship with several additions and renovations over the past 130 years.
