A Kay Kamen Pre-Release ”Snow White” Synopsis and Early Fancard. - (Disney, 1934-35) A very early synopsis of ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” on Kay Kamen stationery. Kamen was Walt's consumer products guru who ensured Mickey Mouse-licensed goods were in the leading department stores and in homes nationwide. This page-and-a-half overview of ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is on Kamen's stationery bearing his name and Mickey Mouse in the footer, and is subtitled ”A Feature Motion Picture to be produced by the Walt Disney Studios in Hollywood.” The outline roughly follows the film's basic story with several distinct differences, such as the inclusion of the deleted bed-making scene and the Wicked Queen's death after the happy ending. Walt Disney famously acted out the entire story of the film for his animators in 1934, introducing them to their next project, the first animated feature film. This synopsis appears to have originated from such an early telling, with only the overall outline of the film and Grumpy the only dwarf named. It was likely made by Kamen about that time to begin the work of licensing the film. Measuring 8.5” x 11”, the document on onion skin letterhead is in good condition with light edge wear mainly to the top and right edge, including slight chipping and top right corners torn. The pages are separated at the staple, with a few small dark spots at the bottom right of the first page. Also included is a rare early fan card for the film, measuring 8” x 10” and in very good condition.
