A Rare ”Hawaiian Holiday” Goofy Maquette. - (Disney, 1937) An incredibly rare animator's maquette of Goofy from ”Hawaiian Holiday.” Maquettes such as this were used by animators as a three-dimensional reference while drawing characters. Hand-painted and constructed of plaster, only a handful were produced and distributed among the animators. The bottom of the base is hand-numbered ”9” and stamped ”Return to Character Model Dept.” This is one of the earliest maquettes we have seen from a Disney production. Measuring 7.5” x 4” x 10” tall, the maquette is in good condition with chipping, spots of paint loss, wear from production use, discoloration from age, visible repair to a crack on the shoulder, and material loss on the arms, exposing Goofy's metal armature.
