UNIQUE ENORMOUS ORIGINAL 60 INCH WINGSPAN THIRD REICH WALL EAGLE
This enormous handmade, one-of-a-kind Third Reich eagle is a very interesting bird. It’s a multi piece, hollowed copper clad construction and measures 60 inches wide and 30 inches tall. The downside of a piece like this is that they always bring out the self-proclaimed experts who scream “fantasy item!” on anything that wasn’t mass produced or found in a reference book. In this case luck was on our side and a well-known period photo exists of what is probably the exact same eagle we are offering here. All of the details of this ultra unique bird match perfectly to the one in the picture – the end of the two top feathers swooping upward, the uncommon head and beak, the oversized fat talons, and the dark highlights around the wreath. Unfortunately, it came out of the collection of a deceased gentleman so there is no way to know how he acquired it many years ago, but this was almost certainly a veteran bring back bird! According to the caption in the Saris eagle reference book, the eagle pictured on the photo from 1945 is shown hanging on the wall somewhere in Düsseldorf along with two US soldiers who are probably looking for a bring back trophy. This piece came out the one of the largest collections of Third Reich Eagles which was acquired over many years by a leading expert in the field.
