Ukraine WW2 - Cossack Wolf Hundreds Badge - Ground dug!
Very interesting and ultra rare item. This badge was found on the outskirts of Prague with a metal detector. This badge was worn by the Cossack organisation "The Wolf Hundreds" led by the Kuban Cossack white Russian Andrei Shkuro fighting under the German Army against USSR. It shows a "V" with a crown of thorns and the head of a wolf. These badges are scarce and very rare to see. The craftsmanship is incredible. The screw on the reverse is missing. Cossack Wolf Hundreds (Russian: Казач&N tilde;ŒÐ¸ волч&Ntil de;ŒÐ¸ сотнÐ& cedil;) was a volunteer cavalry military unit of Cossacks serving the Third Reich during World War II against the USSR and communism. Cossack wolf hundreds appeared on the Eastern Front from 1943 to 1944. They are referred to the tradition of the same units from the period of the civil war in Russia in 1917-1921 organized by Andrei G. Shkuro. Cossacks of these troops wore papas of wolf skin, while on their coats they had black emblems with the image of a white wolf's head.First Cossack wolf hundreds was created at the end of December 1943. It was initiated by a group of young Cossack volunteers who were joined by others. Command was taken by podesau P. F. BiespaÅ‚ow, who had previously fought in the ranks of the Independent Cossack Mountain Sotnia in KubaÅ„. Second Cossack wolf hundreds was formed at the beginning of the February 1944, on the initiative of the eagle of P. K. Jemcow, a thriller from the civil war in Russia. Already in mid February Cossacks were transported to occupied France. It is not known exactly when third Cossack wolf hundreds was founded. It was created by 146 Cuban Cossacks who withdrew from Kubania together with German troops. It was headed by Dinanaja P. B. Riabowol ataman. After arriving in Ukraine, the Cossacks were sent to fight partisans in the city of Hajsyn. When the front approached their area of activity, Sotnia was included in the 14th Mixed Regiment of the Cossack, Cossack State, fighting against the Red Army near R?wne. In March 1945, ataman General A. G. Shkuro tried to form a Cossack military group, which he called the Wolf Department. It was headed by Colonel Kravchenko. About 2,000 volunteers were collected. However these soldiers did not manage to take part in the fighting before the surrender of Germany on May 8. Andrey Shkuro cooperated with Germany during WW2. He participated in the creation of anti-Soviet Cossack units of white emmigrants and Red Army soldiers taken prisoner with Ataman Piotr Krasnow. He was not a Nazi, but he hoped that with the help of the Germans it would be possible to free the Cossack community from Stalinist tyranny. In September 1944 he headed the Cossack Army Reserve with headquarters in Berlin. He also became the nominal commander of the 5th Cossack training and reserve regiment. In addition, he was part of the Main Board of the Cossack Army in Berlin. In May 1945, together with Cossack subordinates, he surrendered to the British in Austria, after which he was imprisoned in a POW camp. Andrey G. Shkuro and other Cossack officers were handed over to the Soviets at the end of May this year (see Operation Keelhaul), although he was never a citizen of Soviet Russia. The Supreme Court of the USSR sentenced him to death, which was carried out by hanging on January 17, 1947. Last two hotos showing patch from this formation and badge .
