Silesia Plebiscyte Polish Leaflet 1921
Polish leaflet from the period of the plebiscite in Upper Silesia in 1921. Double-sided. Bilingual - in Polish and German. Format 35 x 243 cm. Original print. The leaflet compares the small debts of the Polish state compared to the German ones. It encourages voting for Poland. Plebiscite in Upper Silesia (German: Volksabstimmung in Oberschlesien) - one of two plebiscites concerning the ethnic Polish-German borderland, which was established in 1919 in the Versailles peace treaty ending World War I. The plebiscite was held on March 20, 1921 and was preceded by two uprisings of the population of Upper Silesia demanding the region to join Poland.
