SA Leader Ernst Roehm Signed Card + Letter
Original 1933 photo card, signed by SA Leader Ernst Röhm to an admirer in Switzerland, sent together with a letter on his official stationary and signed by his adjudant. As we all know, the year 1934 did not turn out so well for Röhm, eight months after he sent off this signed photo he became one of the victims of the ‘Nacht der langen Messer’ (Night of the Long Knives) which led to Röhm’s death in Stadelheim prison on 1 July 1934 and his replacement as SA leader by Viktor Lutze.A Swiss gentleman Walter Burri must have written to the SA Leadership and asking for a signed picture of SA Stabschef Ernst Röhm in 1933. In fact, he must have enclosed the picture with his request letter and already typed the location (Munich) and the month (October) and the year (1933) but left the day blank. When Röhm signed it, he also wrote the day in the blank spot. His adjudant, Sturmbannführer Prosch sent it back to Mr. Burri and enclosed a letter, using Röhm’s stationary. Actually you are getting to signatures for one price: one from the Stabschef and one from his adjudant.
