French Cavalry Saber Mark 1822
French saber mark 1822 with scabbard. Total length 106,5 cm, blade total length 91,5 cm. On the flat back of the blade, the markings of the arsenal "MANUF. D'ARMES DE CHAT LT JANVIER 1909 (Arsenal of Chatellerault). Technical inspection marks shown in the pictures Three bar hilt moulded in one piece for extra strength. Brass hilt including a main branchwith two lateral branches converging on the bare arch joint, short-tailed pommel cap. Shell guard ending like a "beak" without a quillon. Grip is cord covered with leather. Bound with about twenty loops of two twisted wires. Ten twisted wires were destroyed and were replaced by new ones. No part of the leather cover. Steel scabbard with wood liner set by two rivets, two bracelets. Asymmetric drag. Serial numbers 4943 are located on the inner side of the main branch and the same on the scabbard upper ring.
